CITIES APPEAL:

Cockburn, WA

The ICAN Cities Appeal was endorsed by the Cockburn Council on 24 July, 2019.

STATEMENT

 

“On behalf of the City of Cockburn, I, His Worship Mayor Logan K. Howlett, JP endorse the ICAN Cities Appeal.

Further, on the 14 July  2011, the City of Cockburn Council resolved to join the Mayors for Peace organisation and to sign a pledge to support the abolition of nuclear weapons.

The ICAN Cities Appeal is consistent with this pledge and therefore the City of Cockburn endorses the ICAN Appeal.”

FURTHER ACTIONS

2020: The City of Cockburn commemorated the 75th Anniversaries of the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6th & 9th, 2021, planting commemorative trees in collaboration with Mayors for Peace Fremantle.

Mayors for Peace, and City of Cockburn commnunity members plant trees as part of Hiroshima and Nagasaki commemorative events.
